An intense fear of water doesn’t typically lead to the life of a triathlete. Tyler, however, is not typical. On a dare, she entered her first triathlon and hasn’t let up since. In fact, Tyler won back-to-back amateur Ironman World Championships in 2005 and 2006, breaking the course record both times. Tyler turned pro and is now a member of the Luna Chix Pro Team. At the end of her first year, she was named USAT’s Rookie of the Year, and has since established herself as one of America’s brightest stars in the sport. Tyler does her grueling training in hilly Marin County, north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
