CamelBak Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to CamelBak, and we value your trust. This Privacy Policy explains how non-personal information and personal information about you is collected, used, and disclosed by CamelBak. Personal information covered by this Policy includes information that is collected when you use our website, including our e-commerce site (our "Site") sign up for our newsletter, purchase products from our Site, submit comments to our Site, sign up for events, or when you otherwise interact with us. When you provide personal information, you are consenting to the manner in which we will collect, use, disclose and otherwise manage your Personal Information, as provided below. We may notify you of different or additional notices of personal information practices specific to certain programs or activities. Personal Information and Non-Personal Information is, collectively, "User Information."

Personal Information Collected

Personal Information You Provide.   You can visit our Site without telling us who you are or revealing any information that personally identifies you. In some instances, however, we may collect personal information you provide to us. The types of personal information we collect include name, postal address, phone or fax number, email address, account information, demographic information and information about your interests and preferences (“Personal Information”).

For example, we collect information when you sign up for our newsletter, submit comments to our Site, and when you email, call or otherwise communicate with us.

Registration is not required for your browsing on our Site. However, you may have to register to subscribe to a specific newsletter; purchase products from our e-commerce Site, or participate in any surveys, polls, contests or sweepstakes. When you register, you will be asked for certain Personal Information, including your name, address, phone number, email address, and a password. At the time you participate in one of these activities, we may ask your permission to send you future marketing information.

Automatically Collected Information. We receive certain types of information automatically whenever you use our site ("Non-Personal Information").  For example, when your Web browser accesses our site, we obtain certain types of information, such as your IP address, the type of browser you use, access times and the page you visited before visiting our site.  We may also collect information about your computer's operating system and information about your usage and activity on our site.

Web Beacons. We also collect information using Web beacons.  Web beacons are electronic images that may be used on our site or in our emails.  We use Web beacons to deliver cookies, count visits, understand usage and campaign effectiveness and to tell if an email has been opened or acted upon.

Personal Information from Other Sources.  We may also receive personal information about you from other sources and combine or link that with information we have about you.  Personal Information and Non-Personal Information is, collectively, “User Information.”

Our Use of Personal Information

(a)  Our Use of Personal Information.  We use the Personal Information we collect about you for a variety of purposes, for example, to:

  • respond to your comments and questions and provide customer service;
  • maintain and display your camelbak.com community profile;
  • provide you with information about our products, and special offers that may benefit you. When you register online, subscribe to a newsletter or participate in an activity through our Site, you will have an opportunity to sign up for emails about our products, sales and special offers. If you would like to stop receiving this promotional information from us, please notify us through our "Marketing and Contacts Preferences/Opt-Out/ Updating of Information section of this Privacy Statement; and
  • operate and improve our sites and services.

We may store and process Personal Information in the United States and other countries.

(b)   General.  Except as otherwise described in this section of this Policy, we will not share your Personal Information with any third party without your permission.

(c)   Aggregated Information.  From time to time, we may share your User Information (aggregated with User Information of other users of the Site) with third parties (e.g., third parties who serve advertisements on the Site and who use such information to deliver advertisements that they believe will be relevant to you).  We will not share any aggregated User Information, however, in a manner that would enable the recipient to personally identify you.  In addition, we may combine Non-Personal Information with Personal Information in a manner that enables us to trace Non-Personal Information to an individual user. We do so, however, only for our own internal business purposes and will not share such combined data with third parties in a manner that would enable the recipient to personally identify you.

(d)   Service Providers.  From time to time, we may enter into relationships with third parties who provide services to us (e.g., data management, billing, or storage services).  In those circumstances, we disclose User Information that is necessary for such service providers to perform those services and require that they maintain the confidentiality of such User Information.

(e)   Other Disclosure Scenarios.  We reserve the right to share any User Information: (1) in response to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish, protect, or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; (2) if we believe it is necessary in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, fraud, or situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person or property; (3) if we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding significant abuse of the site’s infrastructure or the Internet in general (such as voluminous spamming, denial of service attacks, or attempts to compromise the security of information); (4) to our parent company, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under common control with us (in which case we will require such entities to honor this Policy); and (5) if we are acquired by or merged with another entity.

Security of Personal Information

CamelBak uses commercially reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural measures to protect User Information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction while it is under our control.

Choice/Opt-Out

We offer you the opportunity to choose not to receive communications from us.  If you would like to do so, please contact us at web@cambelbak.com.  Please note that sometimes these requests may take up to ten business days to process and that we are not responsible for removing information about you from the database of any third party to whom we are authorized to disclose your User Information prior to processing your request.  Even if you do so, we reserve the right to send you administrative messages relating to the site (e.g., changes to this Policy).

Children’s Privacy

We are committed to protecting the privacy needs of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests.  This site is not intended for and may not be used by children under the age of 13 and we do not target the site to children under the age of 13.

International Visitors to our Site

Our site is intended for users from the United States and those not governed by Privacy policies of other countries. Users from other countries are advised not to disclose personal information. Information sent to us will be housed on servers located in the State of California in the United States. Do not send us personal information unless you consent to the application of U.S. law and to the use and disclosure of your information consistent with this Privacy Policy.

Changes to this Policy

CamelBak may update or change this Policy from time to time.  If we make any material changes to the way in which we use your User Information, we will inform you of such change by posting a notice on relevant areas of the site.  Any updated version of this Policy will be effective as of the date we designate and your continued use of the site after such date constitutes your acceptance of any such updates.
