Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mold I have use this bottle for 3 weeks with filtered water and wash it frequently. The mouth piece has turned moldy. It's very difficult to clean and to scrub the mold out even with bottle brushes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from If only it weren't moldy I used this water bottle every single day for a couple of years. I love the durability and ease of it. The straw works perfectly during hard workouts. HOWEVER, I have purchased SO many replacement pieces and the cleaning kit trying to keep bacteria and mold from forming. I left it in my suitcase for a few days and now I have to throw it out from all the bacteria. I won't buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great way to keep track og your hydration levels Because of the valve, you tend to sip in more water than usual. This is a great way to stay hydrated through out the day. The bottle is also very handy for travelling as it can be clamped to any bag though the wide mouth. I first used it in Dubai when I visited my sister. After that all of my family members have one of these bottles in different colors and we love using them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says I've had mine about just over a year and not had any problems. I do however clean the bite guard with a small bottle brush with some fairly liquid every day just to kill any bacteria. I also use filtered water to fill up my eddy. I've seen a few people complaining about mould, I suggest you check your tap water supply and use a filtered water jug to fill it up with and clean the bite guard on a daily basis. bacteria will build up no matter what since your mouth has plenty of bacteria to go around. Perhaps daily mouthcare might help the build up of mould :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great bottle but... This is my first Camelbak bottle and I've had it for about 5 months now. I use my bottle every single day. I'm a college student so I'm always in a hurry. The bottle is very durable for how rough I am with it. I also love the leak proof and spill proof design. I love all the different colors that are available, it was hard to chose but untimely chose the color Iris, a rich purple color. It's design is easy to flip, bite, and drink. However, over the course of the last 5 months I've began to notice a few things. If not all parts are not regularly cleaned, what appears to be black mold forms, specifically in the bite valve. It's easy to clean, with a Q-tip or a pipe cleaner but, it's kinda disgusting. I recommend washing it every 1-2 weeks and after washing it, letting it completely air dry. The other thing that I have noticed about my bottle, it has only been doing this for the past 1 - 1.5 months, is every time I go to bite down on my bite valve to take a drink, it makes sort of a "farting" noise. It's not an attractive sounding noise and really embarrassing when I take a drink in class and everyone looks at me. Every time I put my bottle together, I ensure that all parts are securely in place making sure no air is getting in. I don't believe I am putting it together wrong, the assembly is fool proof. Not sure if this happens to everyone but like I said, it has only recently started and I can't seem to resolve the "farting" noise problem. Lastly, I found that the bottle isn't insulated very well. So my cold drinks don't stay cold for very long. Overall, I do recommend this bottle it's great for biking and long road trips, especially if driving because of the flip, bite, drink design. It's great for everyday use because of the durability and leak proof design. I think the company is great, builds great bottles, and is reasonably priced. I also like that I am able to purchase replacement parts and Camlebak's lifetime guaranty. However, when I do buy Camelbak again in the future, I'm going to purchase the chute design. I'm going to purchase the chute design because of the mold and farting problems. Those problems really turned me down on this product, that's why I only gave it an average rating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mold growth inside cap; impossible to remove Though I found this to be a useful item -- essentially an adult sippy cup that prevented spills in the car -- I recommend against it. I threw two away. The inside of the cap grows mold in 1 day of use. While it is dishwasher safe, dishwashing does not remove the mold. In fact very careful disassembly and hand cleaning cannot remove the mold. There are inaccessible areas (for example, under the rubber diaphragm is an air channel that cannot be reached), and the mold can only be removed by abrasion (wiping, rubbing) and not all areas are reachable. I wondered why no one had invented an item like this years ago, and now I think I know. I should have read the other reviews here. While I have not had any problems with leaks, the mold growth and inability to clear the mold led me to throw away two bottles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nearly Perfect for Everyone Although it leaks occasionally, it really isn't a huge problem, and I love my CamelBak. I bought it myself from a previous recommendation and I haven't regretted it. As someone who sometimes loses things, I lost my first one, an insulated Eddy. I purchased another one, this time just an Eddy. My favorite parts about the product: -Easy to clean -Easy to assemble-disassemble -Lid-mouthpiece is usually leak-proof -AFFORDABLE --> I love that it doesn't break the bank if I replace it, and the parts are inexpensive as well! No need to buy an entire new model just because one thing isn't working-is worn out. I recommend it to everyone who needs a water bottle, and I actually did a presentation of how great it was in my marketing class.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Moldy Mouthpiece/ Leaky I got this water bottle because I am a medical student and I am in class alot and need to keep water on me to stay hydrated. I love the bottle, but I cant seem to keep the mouthpiece clean to save my life. I have to wash it out everytime I use it, which has become a hassle. It becomes very cruddy and dirty after one use, and i am not sure how to fix the issue. Also, the bottle leaks when it is left on its side, which is not a good feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed! I use my Canelbak every day! It's a great size, never leaks and is easy to clean! I was very impressed with the company when I filed a warrantee claim because my bite valve hinge broke. I filed a claim for a new lid and bite valve, and was told it would take 2 weeks to process the claim. Less than a week later, the lid and bite valve showed up in my mailbox! Totally free of charge. I highly recommend this bottle and this brand.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Bottle, too much effort Great bottle to have. I switched the Groove's cap and filter to fit my Eddy with my school's name on it. Love it when the bottle is clean. Hate the bottle when it is time to clean, hard to tell when to clean. Straw gets moldy fast and is hard to remove. The gray part of the straw on the bottom right is extremely hard to clean and gets a bunch of mold in it. The underneath of the straw where it flips up gets clean is very easily dirty. Lastly, it is annoying to pull apart and clean 9 pieces of the bottle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mostly awesome I bought this bottle for myself because I drink a lot of water but dont want a cup too bulky for a cup holder. Although it is tall it still fits nicely in the cupholder of my car. Its easy to use and I love the nice bright color. The only thing I was dissapointed with was that the top doesnt come apart like the kids eddy for super easy cleaning. I wanted the same easy to remove peices since I will occassionally use it for tea or something that leaves stickyness behind. Otherwise a great bottle!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Petri Dish for Cooties!! While I love the design of the bottle, and the fact that I can drink from it in the car without having to tilt my head back and take my eyes off the road, the bite valve and area where the straw attached get disgustingly grungy and are really difficult to clean. I have soaked the bite nozzle in Listerine, sprayed it with all kinds of cleansers, used a bottle brush on it, even tried to scrape it out with my fingernails...still black! And the price to replace just the that little silicone part is half the price of a new bottle! ($8!!! It's a 1" piece of silicone!!)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good water bottle for a short amount of time. I have had this water bottle for about 8 months. I really enjoy the amount of water it can hold and the color. Just in the last week though I noticed a black/brown stains in the valve and as I tried to clean it I realized I needed to get a toothpick to get inside it to clean it. From other reviews I realize it was mold. I was very disappointed and wish you could actually take it apart to clean it. Also the bottle leaks at the top and the straw will not stay down any longer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Everyday, Light Duty Water Bottle We have several of these and have found they works well overall. They do have their flaws, though. The mouth piece loses it's "snap-back" ability after several months. Plus, you'll have to be diligent about cleaning the mouth piece, as mold occurs. You just need to clean and disinfect it on a regular basis. We have never had a problem with leaking, as some reviewers have - unless we haven't put the lid on correctly (not suggesting the others have erred).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leaks I bought the camelback eddy because I have a couple of the chutes and loved those and I wanted to try out the eddy. At first, it was amazing and I loved using it, but after a couple of weeks I noticed that even though I would throughly clean the bite valve and the straw, it became moldy. Also, the water stays at the top and does not stop leaking. I would recommend the chute over the eddy as it is much easier to clean, does not get moldy and does not leak.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from moldy & staining no individual replacement parts The bottle works beautifully as designed for the most part. PRO: - flip top works great - bite valve works great - form factor is perfect - when all parts attached and not overfilled sipping is flawless. Flaws: - when filled to the brim you get annoying air vent gurgling and a leak if you tilt your bottle - straw does not have a positive attach mechanism (only pushes on) and falls off occasionally if you have a bumpy environment (backpack) FATAL FLAW moldy buildup is near impossible to avoid. I have cleaned my bite valve regularly and I ONLY use water in my bottle yet still get nasty black mold and now a beautiful red mold build up. Both have stained the bite valve and the silicone sleeve inside the top that the straw and the bite valve connect to. You CANNOT buy a replacement for this sleeve apparently and are forced to buy a complete replacement top for a $0.15 piece of silicone. With all the complains of mold buildup you would think camelback would make a silicone lining parts swap kit available for as cheap as possible to keep their customers in their product. I've started using my old Nalgene bottle again and this one is sitting on the shelf unused. BOTTOM LINE - great for every day use - would not rely on it for a long distance back country trek - fatally flawed in its ability to be cleaned and stay cleaned thus allowing its long use and until this is fixed this product is doomed in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic bottle and fantastic company. I have never been more satisfied with a product and a company. I drink way more water now that I have this easy to use and carry bottle. As a collegiate athlete, this works really well for me. In addition, they easily replaced my lid when it was leaking!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Started sooo well I purchased three of these with spare silicone valves and when I got them I was very happy. Sadly, my one which is used every day stopped being watertight after 8 weeks. The mechanism which holds the valve down when not in use wears badly with over a short time and is no longer being held down. The valve now pops up by itself when in my bag, meaning water leaks everywhere. You can buy replacement silicone bit valves, but these are very durable and I have never replaced on yet. In my opinion there is a serious design fault with these units on the valve lock mechanism. I would dearly like this to be sorted as otherwise the bottle is great in every other aspect. I currently use mine at work where it does not go anywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bottle with one important exception! Bought this bottle years ago and use it when I go on horse riding. Due to the cleverly shaped handle its easy to get from the saddlebag. And it does not break, very sturdy! But on my last trail I discovered something important. If you get sick to your stomach, never drink straight from the bottle! The bacteria in your mouth will be sucked back into the bottle and you will get worse. Therefore, remove the lid and pour the water either straight into your mouth without your lips getting in touch with the bottle, or use a cup or similar to pour the water into.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only bottles we'll use We have tried several different water bottles and spill-proof cups for our kids and I always come back to CamelBak. I bought my first CamelBak off a personal recommendation that these bottles really increased water intake and encouraged drinking water. Now, my husband and I each have the largest Eddy bottles and our kids have the smaller ones. They don't leak, are great for travel, and ordering replacement parts is easy making our bottles last years. In fact, I've only had to buy new bottles because we take them everywhere and sometimes they end up lost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my CamelBak!! I have nothing bad to say about this product. I absolutely love it! I can grab it with one finger to carry it and it never leaks! I even purchased 2 more for both my children. Best product ever!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Camelbak Eddy I first received a Camelbak Eddy free from an expo booth at the old college. I loved the bottle, however the bite valve grew black mold. No matter how much I wash it. At the time I didn't know I could buy replacement parts for it so I was told to just throw away the bottle. Every since then I have been struggling to find a new water bottle that I was happy with. Then I recently bought another Camelbak Eddy from my current college and I then purchased the Camelbak Chute lid to replace the bite valve and straw to avoid the black mold issue again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Leaky Bottle Loved this bottle but unfortunately it leaks! I bought it from Mountain Equipment Coop and because it wasn't under my membership with them (nor did I keep the receipt for a year) they wont replace it. Pretty frustrated at the guarantee that is posted. Trying to contact someone from the company via this website which is going fine. I can understand why a place need proof of purchase of course but if they're sending it right back to Camelbak then it should just be a straight exchange. Would recommend but not without keeping the receipt incase!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mouldy and leaks I've had two camelbak bottles and experience the same issue with each - they both leak and the mouth piece becomes mouldy. Trying to clean it can tear the mouth piece and I've found from experience that camelbak don't like to help you out and replace the mouth piece for you - you need to buy more yourself. Very disappointed given the cost and the so called 'guarantee'

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dirt and Mold in mouth piece I really like my camel bak water bottle, I use it every day in school and during sport and I clean it regularly but recently I have felt like it was not completely clean after I washed it so I took off the mouth piece and put a q-tip down inside of the mouth piece and was brown when I took it out. I am disgusted I drank out of this and very disappointed in camelbak

Rated 2 out of 5 by from MOLD I play volleyball, so I always wanted a water bottle that was easy to drink from and didn't leak incase it was hit and knocked over. This bottle fit both of those things. I finally got one, and found that the mouth piece from this is one of the most difficult things I have ever washed. The mouth piece gets moldy very easily. Other than that, I liked the bottle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leaks constantly I wanted to love this bottle, and I used it for a couple of years. I really like the straw aspect of it, but it leaks constantly, no matter how full it is. It's leaked with just a little water in the bottom. I replaced the first one, initially, when it started leaking, and then the new one started leaking after about a week and a half. I'm very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks, Leaks, Leaks I absolutely LOVE this water bottle... for the 1st month I own it. I have gone through 4 of these in 2 years and have had the same issue every single time. Water starts leaking out of the bite valve. It will leak out all over as you go to take a drink or I will find a pool of water in the cup holder of my car. Then, after a few months of use, the bite valve rubber weakens and rips right along the seam. Once that happens, the water bottle is no longer of any use to me and it definitely leaks. The other issue is the mold. Being that I use this product every day, I wash it by hand constantly, however mold builds up inside the bite valve and there is no easy way to clean it. Like I said, love it for the 1st month when it is new, but will not keep wasting money on this bottle and will be looking at a different brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Niagra Falls I have 4 x 750ml & 4 x 450ml....these are useless. I bought them thinking I would have a leak free problem. Having kids thats what you want. Even with the spout down it leaks to bad if its sitting in your bag and leaks all over everything. They cost me a small fortune and they will more than likely end up in the bin! Waste of money!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from loved everything EXCEPT the PLASTIC SMELL my water gets. My baby likes this water bottle and valve (particularly), so I was happy to use it (especially when you don't need to force your kid drinking water during hot summer days, he just drank it himself)..So that was a win for me. it's easy to carry and i had it nicely strapped to the stroller.... everything worked nice! WE filter water so after distillation, water can stay "fresh" = without smell, taste for long time. usually gone within a day anyway. So imagine my surprise when I smelled the water in the camelback bottle after less than a day of use (after wash-refill)... ***THE SMELL WAS HORRIBLE!****** PLASTIC Smell coming from the water I'm giving to my child! THIS IS BEYOND FRUSTRATING! I distill water, and than this bottle spoils the quality...NOT COOL!
