Description

If there’s one thing we know best, it’s water. Our athletes, customers and colleagues told us they wanted a reservoir that delivered more water per sip, with a foolproof design that made it easy to fill up and hit the trail. The brand new Crux delivers 20% more water per sip, with an ergonomic handle for easier refilling, and an on/off lever that makes it easy to prevent leaks. Like all of our gear, we put the Crux through exhaustive stress tests to make sure that it won’t fail you on the trail. 100% free of BPA, BPS and BPF.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Frustrated by the New Tube Diameter w/ No Support This new design is robust and nice. A marked improvement over the prior generation... but you can't just change the diameter of the tube from 1/4 that is an industry standard without simultaneously providing solutions to the problem such a change causes. Every accessory out there is now obsolete because it's a fun marketing tool to say, "20% more water per sip." My Katadyn Hiker Pro water filter worked seamlessly with the last generation, because I could plug it into the reservoir without ever even taking my pack off my back... Now I've cut this tube for the quick connections and they just slip through. So now I have a tube that is garbage and I can't find a quick connect fitting to fit this new tube because, again, no one, NOT EVEN CAMELBAK, supports this size. Short-sighted and really disappointing. Please correct this. It's impacting your consumers. This is my third reservoir purchase from Camelbak. I've been loyal, but this kind of stuff makes our relationship tenuous.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but dry system is missing I bought the last crux reservoir since my previous Crux one, after several years of intense use, showed leaks around the lid. I'm very surprised the dry system (plastic arms) is not more included to the product. It was very useful and I miss it. So, despite the improvements, it is not as great as it was.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointment of the year! I have up until recently used a cheap Source water system, as this was the only one available in the store when I needed one. It worked ok, but has some obvious flaws, such as a not very good mouth piece and problems at winter. When the time had come to buy a new one I was very exited to try the Crux, as most people i talked to recommended Camelbak in general for water systems. Everything looked super nice, - until i started actually using it. My first trip in the woods i had 2 (two!) accidents with the Crux leaking from the cap! I soon realized that you need to be VERY careful to check that the cap hits the locking mechanism 100% correct, or it will leak A LOT! I didn't stand a chance to see that it wasn't put correct on, until I looked very close at it. This never even once happen to my old cheap water system, I have used that for more than 300 trips!! Do I really want a water system where I don't know if there is a flood in my backpack at any given time? Also the tiny plastic thing at the top with two "arms" to secure it is useless! Why not make a ring or something that is easy to attach to? All in all, with two major leaks the first trip, and another one a couple of days later, I will return this to the store and get my money back. I hope the people at Camelbak understand that this is frustration, and a hope that they will make some better way to secure the cap and avoids spills, and also do something about the securing thing at the top.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from inadequate for cycling I used this type of system today for the first time. It came as part of a backpack I ordered. I noticed I have to suck really hard on the tube (yes, I did squeeze the mouthpiece open), thus wasting extra body energy. The last 0,2 l or so would not come out at all, unless I put one hand on my back to squeeze the reservoir. Hygiene is also a problem, with no mechanism to dry it properly after cleaning (trapped water is likely to generate germs in no time). I decided not to use it for cycling again, will revert back to the 0,5 l bottles from the discounter, they give me a welcome excuse to stop at regular intervals to drink. I might consider using this thing for glider flying, where small amounts of redundant weight (=unusable liquid) are irrelevant. The instructions for use that come with it, are not worth mentioning. I did visit camelbak.com "for additional cleaning instructions" as you can see, but couldn't find any. Anyway, I bought the backpack for the sake of the backpack and regarded the water reservoir as a goodie. A mostly useless goodie though.
