There’s a reason this is one of our bestselling, longest-running packs: it’s got everything you need, and nothing you don’t. The M.U.L.E.® has a narrow-gauge design that keeps it light and maneuverable—so even when it’s fully loaded for a day of mountain biking, it won’t get in your way. The latest edition is built around the brand new Crux reservoir, which is even easier to load and refill, and delivers more water with every sip. Since we launched the first M.U.L.E. in 1996, mountain bikers have been telling us that it hits the sweet spot of size vs. storage: it’s lightweight, but big enough to carry three liters of water and a day’s worth of snacks and gear. Over the years, we’ve also added air channels to keep your back cool, universal helmet hooks, and clever compartments for stashing tools, keys and electronics. The latest version also features a magnetic tube trap that snaps easily into place, so you can hydrate without taking your eyes off the trail.
Got Your Back Guarantee

  • The brand new Crux delivers 20% more water per sip, with an ergonomic handle for easier refilling, and an on/off lever that makes it easy to prevent leaks.

  • Air director back panel offers air channels to keep your back cool
  • External hooks let you carry your helmet while still allowing full access to your pack
  • Stretch overflow storage compartment lets you easily stash a rain shell or extra layer

Rated 1 out of 5 by from comfortable pack but bad water delivery from bite I bought this pack last week and was eager to try. Problems from the start. Water leaked from opening. I decided that blue "ring" was the problem. Closed opening without it to create leak proof seal. Don't know what this ring is for, if not for sealing. Also, found bite valve very difficult to get water from. Bit repeatedly and varied spot to get water delivery. Also had to suck hard (!) to create flow. Too much work. I am hoping this bite valve is defective and not design flaw. After spending $100+ on this Camelbak, I expected a good thirst relieving experience. Not that the thing is too much trouble to use to quench thirst.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as my old M.U.Le I just replace an old M.U.L.E because my new Note8 cellphone did not fit in the phone pocket. The new one is missing some features like a waterproof zipper on the phone pocket with a headset cord hole, no key hook, fewer interior pockets, and no bladder hook which would allow older bladders to be used. Disappointed but. . .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic bit of kit! Bought this as my small bottle just wasn't enough on long rides. It is brilliant! Unlike the other review, I've had no problemswith leaks. Carries all my spares with ease and enough room for the GoPro accessories and lunch as well! I'll be getting another for my lad.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pack, One Flaw This is an awesome pack....I am on My second one, as the first one with all my goodies was stolen. The Magnetic hose clip on the newer version is a waste of time. Lost the tube part 20 minutes into my first ride. Otherwise, like the descriptions says, everything you need and nothing you dont.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best, bar none. I don't own that nice pretty new one, I bought mine in 2004. I used it for biking and then had to use it to enter New Orleans during Katrina. It has carried everything. I still use it today, cycling, jazz fest, travel overnight. I keep trying to talk myself into buying a new one, but the first one lives on like an LL Bean backpack. hydration systems have chaged but all fit well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works Despite the marketing spiel above, this pack doesn't have everything I need and nothing I don't. What it does have: 100oz of water, ability to pack a rain jacket on the outside and still possibly attach your helmet when back at the car or walking after the ride. Big kudo's to the designers for finally resolving the aggravating problem of removing the fill lid!! I stopped buying Camelbak because it took an olympic wrestler to remove the fill cap to put water in their bladders. Nice job there guys. What took so long?? What it doesn't have: a small pocket suitable for keeping your smartphone safe and not bouncing around while riding. It's 2017 for crying out loud! No rain cover which equals added expense if you want or need one. Waste strap is really light and feels like it will tear out any day now. For how much these things cost now, I expect to want for nothing. Personally, I feel all Camelbaks have become ridiculously over priced but that's probably a relative thing. I like my MULE but I don't love it. I got it at a huge discount so I guess I shouldn't complain too much about the price, but the retail price is just ridiculous.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love this bag but... I have had this pack for around a year now and I love it, its perfect for tearing up trails whilst also carrying the perfect amount of equipment for a day ride. The straps make it light and comfortable, but I found that the lumber strap rides up when cycling resulting in the bag moving on my back when peddling hard. This is not a huge problem but could probably be solved by a larger strap. Apart from that I absolutely love this bag and would recommend this to anyone wanting a medium size bag.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A far cry from the original mule Not at all happy with this. Just purchased 3 weeks ago and not at all impressed. I’ve used the original mule for 15 years (loved it) and wanted a new one and this has fallen way short of expectations. The “ergonomic” bladder is a huge step back from the quarter turn lock bladder. Very hard to screw on and get a good seal. In fact, I got it stuck and broke the cap trying to remove it. It also won’t allow you to fill the bladder full as they’ve reduced the size of the pack so much that it forces the water back to the top, and there’s no way to hold the bladder in place like the previous mule. The pack rides up too high on your back and makes it uncomfortable. I would absolutely not recommend purchasing this pack.
